Hey peeps!  So next week on Nov. 13th I will be celebrating another birthday =)  Your all invited to come party with me on November 17th  at our next Ladies Love Project event.  The Ladies Love Project Team is truly the most amazing group of people that I get to work with (Toofly, Reph, A.Mari and Me =).  I’m so proud of putting these events together because we shine a light on all the vendors and artists in our communities.  Especially after hurricane Sandy I believe that this event can truly unite our community and bring us all together to celebrate our LOCAL independent ARTISTS. So please come, bring a friend, kids are welcomed, bring some CASH and come have a good time! The event is totally FREE !!  =)

HOLIDAY 2012 POP UP SHOP!

Shopping Event Showcases Brazen Art, Avant-Garde Fashion &                              Design at the University Settlement!

NEW YORK, NY October 17, 2012 — On Saturday, November 17, 2012, the LADIES LOVE PROJECT in collaboration with the Performance Project at University Settlement presents its 6th POP-UP SHOP at University Settlement 183 Eldridge St from 12pm – 10pm. The PROJECT, a brainchild of renowned street artist TOOFLY, sound sensation PATTY DUKES & REPH of the Circa 95’ duo and creative non-profit aficionado A.Mari, highlights some of NYC’s most creative underground artists and designers.  The one-day-only event boasts an intimate, yet extraordinary colorful market shopping experience – designed to familiarize consumers, media and tastemakers with artists currently celebrating prominence.

Featured female market designers and artists include Toofly, Junkprints, Vanilla Medallions, Dominique Reneè, Shiro – as well as the fellas Marka27, Rebelution, Soh Nup Ink,  and a host of others, will be exhibiting one of a kind, limited edition, handcrafted goods just in time for the holidays! Event music across all genres will be handled by Reph and Dj Enygma. A live broadcast of the event will be streamed all day at www.Circa95.com and will include the first ever performance showcase by Brooklyn based rap sensation, and self-proclaimed “Mistress of Ceremonies,” Jasmine Solano. Complimentary drinks by Vita Coco! An array of empanadas, coquito, and cupcakes will be served by Jenny Kinns Cupcakes, Mi Isla Coquito, and Martha’s Kitchen.  Funky fresh ladies in the *new* LLP Lounge will be rocking make-up makeovers, dope nail art, and tarot card readings. This year the photo fun will continue with homegirls Sheena She on deck with event photography and Samantha Morales holding down the LLP Photobooth!

University Settlement, a celebrated art and community space located in the Lower East Side, plays host to the eclectic mix of prosperous and established talent. Art pieces on canvas, jewelry, t-shirts, graffiti, make-up, nails, live music—you name it— the LADIES LOVE PROJECT HOLIDAY POP-UP SHOP doesn’t get any more New York than this! “Having the LADIES LOVE PROJECT POP-UP SHOP in our space is a perfect fit,” says Alison Fleminger,  Manager of University Settlement space. “All of the vendors have styles that honor old New York, but each demonstrates a unique progression with great, must-have niche items.” “We are ecstatic and honored to be partnering with such a NYC institution of Art! About TOOFLY:

Maria Castillo a.k.a. TOOFLY is an NYC artist, community builder, and entrepreneur. Recognized in the early 90’s for her hard and fluid character style, she gained popularity as one of the few females excelling beyond her peers in the male-dominated graffiti scene. In 2007 she co-founded the international female arts collective, YOUNITY. TOOFLY now runs her successful independent design company, STAY TRU, as she consults, designs, and develops a variety of projects and workshops. Her work has exhibited at many venues such as the Bronx Museum of Art, and can be found on public walls internationally. TOOFLY is featured across media outlets like Graffiti Women, Juxtapoz, Latination TV and Latina Magazine.

About Patty Dukes & Reph (Circa ’95):

Patty Dukes and Reph are Co-Founders of Circa ’95,a Hip-Hop music and media group. Rhyming seamlessly through English and Spanish, Patty Dukes & Reph have performed all over the U.S. and have graced the stage with artists like Krs-One, Pitbull, Nina Sky and Mala Rodriguez. HBO Latino is currently featuring them in a show called “RoadTrip: NYC” and “Habla Ya”. They released their debut album Free Lunch, available now at www.circa95.com

Allison Maritza, a hospital administrator by day, is a soulful arts advocate/planner/curator with various organizations in NYC, and founding member/co-president of FOKUS. ” I believe there is passion in all that we do…. Just like being bilingual, expressing love & community through creative events adds a level of cultural communication that can’t be matched. For me, art is life; art is a global sanctuary for all of us to learn, share and grow with one another.”
